please refer to refer to Chapter 6 of the OCTANE

+o When locking graphics to video (frame lock) set the
timing on the video device before using setmon to
change the graphics timing table. If the video device
timing is changed after the timing table is changed,
the X-server will hang and must be reset.

+o When running video applications that use the screen
node on systems that contain multiple graphics boards,
the screen contents sent by the screen node will be
that of the graphics board that is connected to the
OCTANE Personal Video board, regardless of which
graphics system the application is started on. In order
to determine which graphics board is connected to the
OCTANE Personal Video board, use the gfxinfo(1G)
command.

+o The inputs to OCTANE Personal Video should not be
disconnected while they are being displayed on the
screen by applications such as Videoin.
If the inputs are disconnected, subsequent screen-to-
video applications may perform unreliably, sending /
displaying corrupt video. To remedy this condition,
kill and restart the video daemon (videod). This will
re-initialize the OCTANE Personal Video device to a
default state.
